Daily Makeup Products

Although I have made a video of 'What's in my Makeup Bag', which contains a number of different products in case I want to do different things but I haven't told you guys what I use daily for my go-to look for school. These pictures are of the products I use ona daily basis. Anything I wanted to show the colour of or wasn't self explanitory, I have pictures and swatches of.

ELF Tinted Moisturiser, ELF HD powder, ELF Mineral Enriched Mascara. Rimmel Hide the Blemish concealer. Estee Lauder pencil.
ELF Eyebrow Kit - Medium. Also used as eyeshadow
MAC Cream Colour Base - Pearl.
No. 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadow - Mink.
MAC Fluidline - Black Track. (drying out)
Loreal Colour riche Lipstick - 303

Also there that I didn't show a closeup of is the Estee Lauder Artist's Eye Pencil in Slate Writer. I use this on my lower lash line, but never in the waterline, yuck. I apply most products with my fingers or Coastal Scents Brushes.

If you click on the product name on each of the captions, I have linked the websites where you can buy these products from. Hope you enjoyed!

Instagram

Really itsy bitsy quick post about instagram. Along with everything else I've been roped into with twitter, I am also now a member of Instagram. I never wanted it because I had hipstamatic and it felt like cheating on it.

Unfortunatly, it didn't work out between me and Hipstamatic. She just kept crashing and not letting me spice things up by switching lens. So, I packed my bags and got a divorce, deciding to move in with my new plaything, Instagram. I'm allowed to change lens and look at other people's photo's with instagram, another thing instagram doesn't do is crash on me when I need it!

I am 100% converted. Instagram is better and you don't have to pay for anything, plus it connects to twitter! So, follow me @beautifywithbeth and I'll follow back.

Top 10 Beauty Gurus

It's a difficult list to make but I've decided to try and give it a shot. It took a while for me to compile this list, I knew roughly who I wanted in there I just didn't know what order they should be in and found it really difficult to do. Another point I'd like to make is that this is only my top ten, there are so many brilliant makeup guru's out there that should be on this list but I would be listing my entire subscriptions list with that! So here is what I eventually decided, but it's still subject to change in the future.

Recently Purchased - Diva Batiste

Firstly, this is written and posted from an ipod so be leniant with spelling and grammar errors please. I can't even rotate it to make it any easier!

Anywho, on to the point of this post...Diva Batiste Dry Shampoo. I have been a loyal follower of Batiste since my first festival, coming up to 2 years ago now. About a month before i discovered how good dry shampoo was when I dyed my hair red and needed to hold the colour with less washes. I'd always heard of it being like in baby powder form and i was like hmmm, really? But Batiste Tropical converted me, after that I had Batoste Blush for literally a year, then when I went to repurchase, it wasn't in stock. SHOCK HORROR. I was outraged but tried the Tresemme Invisible, which was utterly visible but it did the job. I'd also tried the Lee Stafford Poker Straight Dry Shampoo, which smells amazzzinnnggg! But it didn't really do a brilliant job for me, i found my hair still looked a bit greasy and gross. Forgive my rambling, I'm going somewhere with this. Last week I needed to repurchase a dry shampoo, all out of other options and saw a Batiste i'd never tried before, Diva. I didn't read the scent description, chucked it in my basket because it looked pretty - and it's Batiste!! Anyway, it's the best smelling hair product i've owned before, really interesting fragrance. The description says:

'Batiste Diva Dry Shampoo, with a heady oriental fragrance....'

Oh god, words can't explain how much i love this smell. It's only £2 in Asda, so if you have (literally) a couple of quid spare give it a shot.

Nudes Vs. Brights

Whether it's clothes, bags or makeup. lips, cheeks or eyes. Nudes vs Brights have been a heavily debated topic in the beauty industry. Different seasons means different trends and every year people's opinion on nudes and brights change, leaving us all running to keep up. With spring coming along this year, many designers seem to be favouring brights and pastels. Even makeup artists are reflecting this trend, with a lot of bright cheeks being seen around. And just to show that nudes and brights are all in personal taste no matter what the magazines tell you, I'm not a lover of bright cheeks. My pale pale skin makes me look like a clown but i think on olive toned skin a bright cheek is a perfect way to bring colour to the face and I'm always convincing people to try it so i can live vicariously through them.

However, on the opposite end of the scale a washed out completely nude look has been seen on the catwalk too. Neutral toned clothes and washed out lips with just-off-skin coloured eyeshadow. Slightly similar to the 'heroin chic' look a few years ago, the full face that looks bareface is back. To go with this trend, the popularity of nude nails is rising extraordinarily quickly. Many beauty girls on youtube are also sporting this trend, viviannadoesmakeup and missbudgetbeauty are just two that I've seen mention it.

This spring, as ever the red lip is just as popular as it has been recently, plus along with the red more and more celebrities are seen on the red carpet with bright, perfectly painted pouts in colours like pink and coral.

Bright eyes are also making a comeback in the fashion world, with a lot of bright blue's and pastel colours becoming popular. (mention a makeup brand collection with bright eye colours). A lot of people are scared of bright eye makeup, especially after the disaster of the 80's but if you just want a pop of colour to warm up your face without it being too obvious try a coloured eyeliner, or a dark toned colour in your crease, personally i love sketch from mac. I'm also going to be posting a tutorial on my youtube channel for a wild bright eyes look if anyone is daring enough to try it. Subscribe to my channel to make sure you don't miss it.

So whether you're a lover of nudes or brights, this spring caters for everyone! And you could even combine the two with neutral clothes paired with bright makeup or vice versa! Have fun experimenting with your favourite looks and comment telling me which trend you'll be following this spring.

Laura Mercier Moistursing Foundation Review

I bought this product a while ago from a counter in John Lewis, I'd say around mid-June. I walked in, white as a sheet like normal with utterly no makeup on, no fake tan no nothing, looking for the 'Silk Cream Foundation' and the assistant was like no no no that's too heavy for your skin, you need to try this, handing me the moisturising foundation. I was like okay well can I swatch it and she turned to the counter and grabbed 'warm ivory' and proceded to put it on me. She also put it on using her fingers which I also thought was odd. I bought the foundation believing friends that were like yeah it looks good! SoI went home continued with life, the next day I went to apply my foundation and was horrified with my orange face!!!!!!!! She gave me the complete wrong colour, I'm usually the lightest shade in everything but after visiting the Laura Mercier website, it's like the 4th shade along. Safe to say, I was pissed after spending £36 for something I didn't want....but, there was no way I was wasting it. I'd checked the policy for returns and apparantly I didn't fall under it.

Now, I had to tell you about that so that you would know my bias. That being said, it does have a nice finish, especially because my skin is a little dry and it's easily buildable. I wouldn't describe the finish as either matte or dewy. It's in the middle sort of. But, if you have any excess oil on your face, it goes streaky and slides right off. I wouldn't reccomend applying this with your fingers (no matter what the sales lady does) application with either a sponge or a dense brush and reeeeeealllllllyyyyyy buff it in! I find it doesn't make a difference whether you work areas seperately or dab it all over and blend it in....it just needs a lot of buffing. The problem with that though is on days when you're lazy, as soon as you put on your powder, you are cakey and actually there's a sticky texture to the makeup too. Odd.

If I have some spare cash I'll try and save up and buy a colour closer to my own skin because I don't want this review to be overly bias, but I honestly don't think it's worth the money for the foundation. I had prolongwear foundation by MAC before that and I didn't like that at first but I grew to love it and now I really really miss it! It was so good, and I'd reccomend that rather than this product, it was a lot easier to work with, and the reason I didn't like it at first was because I was using too much! As soon as I lowered the amount I put on it became a firm favourite, I have to reccomend that rather than this, sorry Laura!

Real Technique's Brushes

Real Techniques, the new up and coming brush line created by Sam Chapman from the youtube channel 'Pixiwoo' is going to be available in Boots from the 15th of Feburary. However, the brushes will only be available in 'selected shops'. I hate that phrase because I never know what shops it will open in and sometimes the really big store in Cardiff doesn't even contain what I'm after. Nothing about it is logical to me, gahh!

Anyway, Sam has posted a list of shops the brushes will be available at on a blog post here.  I really am so excited to try some of these, because anyone into beauty girls is bound to have heard of pixiwoo and seen how brilliant they are there's also been really positive reviews for the quality of the brushes online. Also they're a lot cheaper than MAC brushes, sets are around £20. But, if you can't wait for them to become available, you can buy online here  on the real techniques site for US shipping or Amazon and they're also available on Love Makeup if you're in the UK! More information is on the collection is available on the site. Enjoy and support the girls, subscribe to their channel here. They're also available on twitter and you can follow their blog too.

Valentine's Day

So, with Valentine's Day round the corner you can't escape the mounds of Valentine 'Date Night' tutorials on your subscription list. Everyone seems to be doing them and no matter where you turn, one pops up! I'm not really one for the Valentine's celebrations so rather than film a half-arsed tutorial that no-one's really going to pay much attention to I thought I'd just do a teensy post about the perfect eyeshadow for Valentine's and the look I would have done with it...

Upcoming Videos!

Hi guys! I've just had a really busy day of filming and I've block filmed like 6 videos! and I have unedited footage on my camera already that will probably be uploaded in the morning for you all. A list of the videos filmed in order of planned upload release =

  • Coastal Scents Palettes Review
  • Foundation Routine
  • Seven Deadly Sins Tag
  • Misery Business Tutorial

That's a lot in one sitting. So, don't judge me if you see a lot of video's with me in the same clothes, it was all the same day! I had the house to myself all day so I thought I would take advantage of it. I have a big long list of things I want to film and do for you guys so I hope you don't feel too bombarded, and I'm not quite sure how I should post these video's so feel free to comment with ideas. I think one daily might be a little too much, haha.

Oooops!

My scheduling has been set to EST time, so that's why things are posting at weird times. Sorry about that! Anyway, I've fixed it and things should be normal now. - well normal for UK residents. :)

Posting Schedule

I just uploaded another video, to go with the creation of this blog explaining it. I'm not going to embed it like I will with all my other videos because all I'm doing is talking about this website! I think it would be a little odd to read about a site that you're already on so instead, I thought I'd talk about when I'm planning to post on here, think a schedule.

New Video - What's in my bag

Like every single other youtube beauty guru, I have decided to do a 'What's in my Bag' video. I know, you've seen it all before but look at my DIY mini-emergency kit! Save yourself some money and make your own kits so that you don't have to buy refills of miniature things that are at ridiculously extortionate prices! Anyway, apart from that, yes the video is pretty similar to everyone elses' versions, but there's a reason these videos are so popular!

So here's the video I hope you enjoy:

Oooh, snazzy.

I've made something I'm rather proud of myself  for. Well, there's no need for me to be proud, a website did it for me but still...

New Blog and Channel! (Plus first video and free things)

Hi guys,
So this is my first post on this blog which is made to go hand in hand with my new youtube beauty channel - BeautifywithBeth. Cheesy I know but it started off with BethsBeauty and every variation on that was taken...damn it.

BUT, on the plus side, I'm really excited about this new channel and especially this blog. I think it's going to be loads of fun to maintain and just to see people's interest growing etc as I go along with it. That being said, I will be giving myself extra work and probably spending extra money, which isn't wise when uni starts in September but oh well! I really hope I'm going to enjoy this as much as I think I am and I'm eyeing up all the features of the blog at the moment. The schedule feature is looking particularly nifty, especially for those night's when I can't sleep until 4am.
So, to kick things off here's my first video: (which ironically is already wrong and not what I planned it to be but with when one door closes and all that.)

Just incase the code doesn't show up in annotations on blogger: C19JR9R

I guess I'll talk to you later! -x
